Frequently Asked Questions

Beginning the therapeutic process can be challenging to navigate. Below are some of our office's most frequently asked questions.

FAQs

Does Medical Insurance Cover Therapy?

Most medical insurance companies do offer some type of coverage for mental health services. Our office can verify if we accept your specific type of insurance. If you are using insurance, we recommend you call the number on the back of your card and find out answers to the following questions as you are ultimately responsible for any amount that is not covered by your plan:

  1. What are my in-network benefits to see an out patient mental health provider?

  2. How much is my deductible and how much has been met?

  3. Does the deductible apply to outpatient mental health services?

  4. Do I have any co-insurance or co-pay for these services?

Do You Accept HMO Insurance Plans?

Our office can not accept HMO insurance plans due to the structure and set-up of most HMO plans. These plans require referrals to physicians within the physician group that a subscriber chooses when they enroll in an HMO plan, similar to obtaining referrals for a specialist. If you wish to be seen with an HMO plan, you will have to pay out of pocket. Your insurance plan may offer reimbursement for those expenses.

Are You In-Network With My Insurance?

Being an in-network provider means that we are approved to accept subscribers of select insurance plans. We are currently in-network with most major plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield Choice PPO, Cigna PPO, United PPO, and Aetna PPO.

Do You Offer A Sliding Scale for Cash Paying Patients?

We believe that therapy should be accessible to those who need it. If you do not have insurance coverage for mental health services, please contact our office to discuss payment options. We are always willing to work with a patient to make therapy an affordable and stress-free experience, as well as arrange payment plans for individuals with high-deductible medical plans. We have limited availability for individuals who do not have insurance and can not afford therapy at this time. Contact us for more information.

Do Your Clinicians Prescribe Medications?

Our office does not have a psychiatrist on staff who is able to prescribe medications. We do however communicate (at the patient's discretion) with current and existing Primary Care Physicians and Psychiatrists who prescribe medication to our patients. This ensures patients are receiving the most individualized and appropriate treatment for their specific symptoms.

I Have Never Gone to Therapy, What Should I Expect?

The first step is to reach out to our office via email or telephone to schedule an Intake appointment. We will ask for your insurance type to verify that we accept it. A 50-60 minute intake will be scheduled, and required paperwork will be sent to you prior to your intake.  All documentation must be filled out and returned to our office no later than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time. If we do not receive your intake paperwork 24 hours before your session, it will be rescheduled until the necessary documentation has been returned to our office. If you have a co-pay/co-insurance, or deductible payment, this will be collected at the time of service.
